PRESCHOOL CLASSES AND SO MUCH MORE

“We want to give our littlest ones everything we can to help them succeed in school, and in life. It’s all about giving them every opportunity. They are our future.”

In addition to Escuelita classes, the NWI Promotoras offer a separate preschool program for the under 5 set, and other classes as they see a need.

Preschool sessions provide more time to focus on the youngest children, whose brains are developing rapidly. Naco Wellness Initiative’s aim is to boost the children’s nutrition with healthy snacks and to help them get a head start on learning. It’s also a chance to stress handwashing, toothbrushing, and the skills needed for a good start in kindergarten.

“We want to give our littlest ones everything we can to help them succeed in school, and in life,” said NWI Director Lupita Sanchez. “It’s all about giving them every opportunity. They are our future.”

From time to time as they see a need or when parents or children ask, the Promotoras offer short-term, themed classes for different ages. Past classes have included introductory cooking lessons for kids. Middle-schoolers returning to school after Covid were treated to a pep program to revive enthusiasm and brush up on reading and math skills.

Learning With Purpose

“Educating people of all ages is like planting trees. We are building Naco’s health and education capacity for the future. An educated population is a resilient, thoughtful population, able to solve its own problems as they arise, to anticipate needs and meet them.” – Mary Cavalier, NWI Board Member

“We will all grow if we are allowed the space to do so. People just need the opportunity. That’s what Naco Wellness tries to provide in Naco.” – NWI Founder and Executive Director Tom Carlson
